Details of services 

Minor Surgery:

Minor Surgery is performed daily by Dr. Karagiannis here in our clinic. An initial consult is needed so the doctor can confirm diagnosis and plan for the procedure. Please contact reception for an appointment.

Skin Cancer Screening:

Dr. Karagiannis will assess your skin and any suspicious moles or lesions will be photographed and analyzed. You will then be reassured that all is well, be recommended follow-up screening or he will remove any suspicious or unsightly skin lesions here in the practice. Most lesions are usually removed within the week and sent to the hospital for analysis.

Joint Injection:

Dr. Karagiannis performs this here in the surgery. An initial consult is needed to see if you are compatible for this procedure. Please contact reception for an appointment.

Skin Cosmetics:

Dr. Karagiannis is a Member of the European College of Aesthetic Medicine and offers a wide range of treatments to smooth out any unwanted lines as well as those unsightly spider/thread veins. He also performs Lip Augmentation

Blood Tests including Fertility testing:

These are done on a daily basis and sent by courier to St. Vincent's Hospital. We securely download the results from the hospital lab website straight into your file, helping to ensure a quick turn around.

STD Screening:

We provide a confidential screening programme for all major sexually transmitted infections.

Cryotheraphy:

Liquid Nitrogen is used to remove warts and skin tags. This procedure is carried out by the doctor and may be fully covered by your private health insurance. If you contact your health insurer before having the procedure done they can advise you if you are full covered. Please be aware that more than one visit may be necessary.

Psychology and Counselling Service:

We are delighed to welcome Imagine Health to Barrow Medical. Please visit www.imaginehealth.ie for their range of services.

24 Hour Blood Pressure Monitoring: 

This gives a recording of your blood pressure over a 24 hour period, allowing your Doctor to get a more accurate assessment of your blood pressure than a conventional surgery reading. We have this equipment onsite for your convenience.

Antenatal Care:

We are registered with the government Combined Care Scheme, enabling women to attend their GP along with their maternity hospital or obstetrician during their pregnancy, free of charge. This scheme entitles the woman to 6 free visits during her pregnancy, as well as two after the birth, one for the baby at two weeks, and one for the mother and baby at 6 weeks.

Cervical Smear Tests:

These are available FREE of charge for eligible women between the ages of 25 and 60, and are carried out by our Practice Nurse on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons. To register for your free smear test, please ring 1800 45 45 55, or go to www.cervicalcheck.ie> Upon receipt of your call letter, you can book an appointment with us for your smear. For those women outside of the above criteria, we also offer a private smear test.

Child Vaccinations:

We are approved by the HSE to administer all childhood vaccinations. For more information, please visit www.immunisation.ie

Family Planning:

We provide a comprehensive service on all aspects of Family Planning, including insertion and removal of Mirena Intrauterine system, Depo-provera and the management of all other types of contraception.

Full Medical:

We provide a comprehensive Medical Check-Up service for both men and women which includes a full written report summarising your current state of health. The full cost of this may be covered by your private health insurance. Ask reception for details.

Gardasil Vaccinations:

This is the vaccination to protect against cervical cancer. It is recommended for girls/women between the ages of 9 and 26, and is a course of 3 vaccinations. We have negotiated a significant discount for our patients wishing to avail of this vaccine.

Insurance Medicals:

The Doctors at Barrow Medical carry out Insurance Medicals on behalf of all major insurance companies.

Out of Hours:

For out of hours emergencies, patient's registered with Barrow Medical can attend Eastdoc in St. Vincents Elm Park between the hours of 6pm and 10pm. To make an appointment please call 01 209 4012 .

Travel Vaccinations:

Barrow Medical is a registered Yellow Fever Vaccination Centre and we offer a comprehensive pre-travel health check, vaccination, and travel advice service.

Physiotherapy service:

We are pleased to announce that we have recently partnered with The Physio Company, Chartered Physiotherapy & Sports Injury Clinics to provide a wide range of high quality chartered physiotherapy services in Barrow Medical.

The Physio Company’s team of fully Chartered Physiotherapists will help you recover faster and minimise your chance of re-injury. They offer a range of services including effective treatment for back & neck pain, sports injuries, cervical & stress headaches, repetitive strain injuries, joint pain and postural disorders, dry needling, complimentary therapy, taping, deep tissue massage and sports massage. Orthotic assessments are also available in our Temple Bar, IFSC, Ranelagh and Raheny clinics.
